Republic Day Celebration at Sivakasi Lions Matriculation School: A Day of Patriotism and Pride

The morning sun bathed Sivakasi Lions Matriculation School in golden light as students, teachers, and parents gathered for a day of national pride and celebration—the 75th Republic Day of India. The school campus was beautifully decorated with tricolor flags, balloons, and banners bearing the words “Unity in Diversity” and “Jai Hind!” The atmosphere was filled with patriotism and enthusiasm, as students arrived wearing white kurtas, traditional attire, and even costumes representing India’s rich cultural heritage.

This wasn’t just another school event—it was a celebration of the Indian Constitution, the sacrifices of our freedom fighters, and the values that shape our great nation.

A Grand Beginning: Flag Hoisting and National Anthem

At exactly 8:30 AM, the school assembled in the main ground, where a grand flag-hoisting ceremony was about to take place. The Chief Guest, a retired Army officer, was warmly welcomed by the Principal and faculty. As everyone stood in attention, the tricolor flag was hoisted high, fluttering proudly against the clear blue sky.

The moment the National Anthem, “Jana Gana Mana,” was sung, the air was filled with a deep sense of patriotism. Students saluted the flag, their eyes shining with pride, as they understood that this flag is not just fabric—it is a symbol of sacrifice, freedom, and unity.

After the anthem, the Chief Guest addressed the students, sharing his experiences in the armed forces and reminding them:

A Journey Through History: The Republic Day Speech & Skit

Following the flag hoisting, a group of senior students presented an inspiring speech about the importance of January 26, 1950—the day when India adopted its Constitution and became a sovereign democratic republic. They spoke about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the Father of the Indian Constitution, and how his efforts ensured that every Indian citizen was given equal rights and freedom.

Then came one of the most awaited performances of the day—a historical skit titled “The Making of the Indian Constitution”.

  • The struggles of our freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, and Subhash Chandra Bose.
  • The discussions and debates that went into writing the Indian Constitution.

Cultural Extravaganza: Dance, Music, and Unity in Diversity

Republic Day is not just about history—it is also about celebrating the diverse culture of India. The school had organized a variety of cultural performances that highlighted the unity in India’s diversity.
