Headmistress's Message

Mrs. B. Mercy Arputha Suguna Bai, MSc BEd (Physics) Mon Td
Headmistress, The Sivakasi Lions Nursery & Primary School

“It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge, fueled by a passion for discovery.” These profound words by Albert Einstein encapsulate the essence of what we strive to achieve at The Sivakasi Lions Nursery and Primary School.

Our school proudly follows the Montessori Education system, a child-centric approach where children explore, touch, and learn without fear. This method instills in our students an “I can do it” attitude, laying the foundation for future success. Through hands-on experiences, we empower children to become confident, independent, and curious learners.

The school assembly is a cornerstone of our nurturing environment. It’s a time for the entire school to come together, celebrate achievements, reflect on values, and inspire one another. We recognize students who excel in English with Honour Cards and reward avid readers during our Library Week Celebration, reinforcing the joy and importance of reading.

Our focus on language development and cognitive skills is strengthened through programs like The Institute of Language Management (ILM), Abacus, and Mindspark. These initiatives challenge young minds and prepare them for academic excellence. As a result, our students have achieved remarkable milestones, including 10 national ranks in the Unified International Maths Olympiad (grade 3) and a national rank in the Unified International English Olympiad (grade 4).

Sports are equally important at our school. Our students have participated in various competitions and secured prestigious awards at the National and State levels, showcasing their talents beyond academics.

For our KG students, we create a nurturing environment filled with enthusiasm and a love for learning. Activities like Colour Day Celebrations build a solid foundation for their educational journey. Our playschool focuses on early development through singing, storytelling, tracing, and hands-on activities in the Montessori Lab. Events like the Graduation Ceremony and Sports Day celebrate their growth, filling the atmosphere with pride and joy.

At The Sivakasi Lions Nursery and Primary School, we are not just educating children; we are shaping future leaders, thinkers, and dreamers. Together, we are building a community where every child can thrive and achieve their fullest potential.

In 1968, the Lions Kindergarten School was founded on a 15-cent site generously offered by Messers K.C.A.D. Chidambara Nadar and Gnanagiri Nadar of Coronation Litho Works, Sivakasi. Over the years, the school grew steadily, first becoming the Lions Junior School and later evolving into the Sivakasi Lions Matriculation Higher Secondary School.

As the school expanded, additional space was needed. The Palaniandavar Youngmen’s Sports Club, including members such as Messers K.S.S.P. Arumugaswamy Nadar, Dr. P.C. Mathews, S.A.K. Arunachala Nadar, K.T.R. Thavasiappa Nadar, and K.P.S. Balakrishna Nadar, donated a 1.4-acre site in Palaniandavarpuram. On April 6, 1970, Bharat Ratna K. Kamaraj, M.P., who played a pivotal role in promoting education in Tamil Nadu, laid the foundation stone for a three-story school building funded by generous contributions from club members and other philanthropists.

The school initially affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), presenting its first batch for the All India Secondary School Examination in 1980 and the Senior Secondary Examination in 1982. In 1983, it transitioned to the Tamil Nadu Matriculation and Higher Secondary Board, with its first Matriculation and Higher Secondary batches graduating in 1983 and 1984, respectively.

A significant milestone came in the 2005-2006 academic year when the school expanded into a Residential-cum-Day Boarding School. Senior classes (VI to XII) were moved to a spacious 17.4-acre campus on Virudhunagar Road, complete with separate hostels for boys and girls, marking a new era in the school’s growth and development.

A new milestone begins in the 2024-25 academic year, with the launch of Sivakasi’s first international school (IB-PYP), marking a new era of global education for the community. Spanning an expansive 22,500 square feet across a 4/5-acre campus, the school offers a dynamic environment where young minds are encouraged to explore, innovate, and grow.
