National Safety Day Celebration at Sivakasi Lions Nursery & Primary School: A Day of Awareness and Fun!

The bright morning sun cast a golden glow over Sivakasi Lions Nursery & Primary School, but today was no ordinary school day. The air was filled with excitement and anticipation as students gathered in the assembly hall for a very special occasion—National Safety Day!

The school had planned a day full of engaging activities, hands-on learning, and thrilling competitions to educate young minds about the importance of safety. Whether it was road safety, fire safety, personal safety, or health precautions, the day aimed to instill awareness in a fun and memorable way.

A Thoughtful Beginning: The Special Assembly

The day started with a special assembly, where students, teachers, and staff came together to honor the importance of safety in everyday life. The principal addressed the students, emphasizing how safety begins with small, responsible actions.

“Safety is not just a rule—it is a habit. Whether you are crossing the road, playing on the playground, or even using the internet, being cautious and aware can help prevent accidents. Today, we will learn how to protect ourselves and others!”

A group of students performed a short skit about the consequences of ignoring safety rules. The play showed what happens when children forget to wear seatbelts, cross the road carelessly, or play with firecrackers. The lively performance, filled with humor and important lessons, left everyone laughing and learning at the same time!

With the opening ceremony concluded, the real excitement began—a series of engaging and educational events awaited the children!

Event 1: Road Safety Workshop – Learning the Rules of the Road

The first event of the day was a Road Safety Workshop, conducted by local traffic police officers. The students were thrilled to see real policemen in uniform, ready to teach them about traffic signals, pedestrian crossings, and road safety signs.

A miniature traffic setup was arranged in the school playground, complete with toy vehicles, traffic lights, and zebra crossings. Students got the chance to act as pedestrians and drivers, learning how to cross roads safely and follow traffic rules.

The best part? A fun quiz at the end, where students who answered correctly received small prizes like stickers and badges that said, “I Am a Road Safety Champion!”

Event 2: Fire Safety Drill – Learning to Stay Calm in Emergencies

Up next was an exciting and important fire safety drill. The school had invited firefighters from the local fire department to demonstrate how to handle fire emergencies.

The students watched in awe as the firefighters showed how to use a fire extinguisher and explained what to do in case of a fire at home or school. The most exciting part was when the firefighters lit a small controlled fire and put it out using a fire extinguisher—the students cheered with amazement!

A key lesson they learned was “STOP, DROP, and ROLL”—a technique to put out flames if clothes catch fire. Many students got the chance to practice this technique on soft mats, making the learning both practical and fun!

Event 3: First Aid Demonstration – Learning to Be a Life Saver

The school’s medical team conducted a session on basic first aid, showing students how to handle cuts, burns, and minor injuries.

The demonstration included:

In the afternoon, the Personal Safety Awareness session focused on two important topics:

2️⃣ Online Safety – How to use the internet safely without falling into cyber traps.

Teachers used storytelling and role-playing to teach children about the importance of saying “NO” to strangers, not sharing personal information online, and speaking up if they feel uncomfortable.

A fun “Spot the Danger” game was played, where students had to identify unsafe situations in given pictures. The quick learners were rewarded with safety-themed bookmarks as prizes!
